Taxi 07 Roads Forward, a collaborative effort of the New York City TLC and the Design Trust for Public Space, is a comprehensive look at the taxi industry and the ways in which it could better serve the public over the next decade.

This document is the culmination of a creative exercise and contains recommendations that have not been endorsed by the TLC, but rather will serve as the foundation of discussions and explorations to come.

Passengers/Wheelchair Users

The Accessible Dispatch System is only for passengers who use wheelchairs and can get to the sidewalk curb. If you use a wheelchair and want to use the accessible dispatch system, you should call 311 to give the operator your location and pick-up time.  Please wait by the curb at your pick-up time.  If you are not at the assigned pick-up location ten minutes after the pick-up time, the driver is allowed to leave.  (Please note that due to unforeseen conditions such as traffic, weather other unaccounted for circumstances requested pick up time may vary from actual pick up time.)

You will be charged the normal metered taxi fare in addition to any wait time if you are late. Drivers are allowed to turn the meter on before they help you into the vehicle. Drivers are not allowed to charge for unloading. Drivers must help secure your wheelchair and belongings. If you are not in a wheelchair and try to use the system, you are subject to paying twice the normal metered fare or the driver can refuse your ride.

Accessible Taxicab Passenger

TLC is looking for taxicab users to provide input to the agency regarding the demonstration project. Passengers providing information through our survey will be asked to provide the agency with their name, address, and contact information. You (the passenger) will also be asked to collect the medallion number of the vehicle and operators license of the driver.  Please note that all submitted information will be kept confidential.

Passengers interested in providing feedback on the Dispatch System are highly encouraged to do so. Please click on the link to fill out the survey and electronically submit.

Thank you for your service, your input on the matter is greatly appreciated.
