Yankee Stadium
"The house that Ruth built" is one of the oldest
ballparks in modern sports history. Its atmosphere of excitement can only be experienced
firsthand. Yankee Stadium has been the scene of numerous college football games, several

Madison Square Garden (MSG)
The worlds most famous arena has a long, storied history
in the sporting and entertainment worlds. The Garden is the home of the New York Rangers,
the New York Knicks, and the New York Liberty. Some notable events held there recently
include the 1998 NBA All-Star Game, the Chase Championships (tennis), the Millrose Games
(track and field) and the Prince Naseem Hamed/Kevin Kelley fight. The Garden can

The Theater at MSG
The Theater, located within the structure of Madison Square
Garden, has hosted a variety of events including Goodwill Games boxing and wrestling, the
NFL draft and numerous concerts. The Theater can seat 5,600 spectators.
Shea Stadium
The longtime home of the New York Mets and the historic site of

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center
The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open, comprises three
stadia and more than 30 nonstadium tennis courts. The centerpiece is the largest tennis
stadium in the world, Arthur Ashe Stadium, built in 1996. The state-of-the-art structure
seats 23,000 fans and can be utilized for far more than just tennis. Arthur Ashe Stadium
features fine dining, a top-notch media center and an abundance of posh luxury suites. The

Universities & Colleges
New York City has a number of prestigious colleges and universities throughout its five boroughs. The Sports Commission will act as an intermediary with these institutions to make sure your event hits the mark. Two noteworthy examples of excellent athletics facilities include Lou Carnesecca Arena at St. John's University, the 6,000-seat home of the Red Storm basketball teams, and Wien Stadium at Columbia University, a 17,000 seat stadium that hosts international track and field competitions, as well as all Columbia football home games.
The New Balance Track & Field Center @ The Armory
The Armory houses the New Balance Track & Field Center and The National Track and Field Hall of Fame and Learning Center. The New Balance Track & Field Center is a state of the art competition facility, and includes a 200-meter Mondo track, all ancillary field venues, a Jumbotron, computerized scoring and seating for 3,000 spectators. It is the only facility of its kind within a fifty-mile radius of New York City. The National Track & Field Hall of Fame is located on the first three floors and consists of 15,000 square feet of exhibition space. Randall's Island Park/Icahn Stadium
Randall's Island Park is the 480-acre island anchoring Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens. Icahn Stadium is located along Randall's Island Park's northwestern shoreline, visible from the East Side of Manhattan and the FDR Drive. It offers a standard 400-meter Mondo surface running track, flanked by covered spectator seating and overlooking the East River. There is also a newly-built Premier Soccer Field that is a FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) certified playing field. The field can host international soccer matches and championships.
The future plans by developers include a new Tennis Center and a Water Park. In addition, there will be 68 new and improved soccer, baseball and softball fields, a Nature Center, an Island-wide pathway system, extensive environmental restoration, and the expansion of after school and summer programs for city kids.
The NYRA Racetracks
The New York Racing Association came into
existence in 1955 and controls Belmont Park, Aqueduct, and Saratoga

Non-Traditional Venues
Many less traditional sites throughout New York City can be
transformed to create exciting and unusual venues. For example, the city boasts some of
the finest parks--with facilities that can be converted to your advantage. During the
Goodwill Games, Wollman Rink in Central Park was transformed into a 3,000-seat beach
volleyball arena.
