Carol A. Robles-Roman Deputy Mayor for Legal Affairs and Counsel to the Mayor Prior to her work in city governance, the Deputy Mayor held executive posts with the New York State Unified Court System, including Special Inspector General for Bias Matters, where she worked to set up the first alternative dispute resolution program for employee discrimination complaints. As a court administrator she oversaw statewide court initiatives, including promoting innovative problem-solving courts to federal lawmakers, instituting statewide reforms such as court-based mediation, and implementation of a domestic violence registry. Her background also includes business development throughout the United States, when she served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the mainland U.S. offices of the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company, overseeing their continental U.S. offices. She negotiated multi-million dollar business and tax incentive packages that promoted relocation and retention of Fortune 500 companies to Puerto Rico. Deputy Mayor Robles-Román holds a Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law where she was honored with the Vanderbilt Medal at graduation for extraordinary contribution to the law school community. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University at Lincoln Center. |
