Welcome to the Office of Labor Relations
The Office of Labor Relations has made great strides within the past three years consistent with the administration's goals of restructuring the workforce, reengineering government, and maintaining appropriate levels of service delivery. The Mayor and the City's labor organizations have developed innovative approaches to achieve cooperative and collaborative solutions to issues affecting labor and management.
Administered by the Office of Labor Relations' Employee Benefits Program, the Health Benefits Program continues to receive a strong Mayoral commitment to improve services and benefits while reducing costs. The Program provides health benefits to approximately one million employees, retirees, and their dependents, and has annual premiums over one billion dollars - making New York City the largest purchaser of employee health services in the Greater New York area.
The Office of Labor Relations also administers the following Employee Benefits Programs:
- The Management Benefits Fund
- The Flexible Spending Accounts Program
- The Deferred Compensation Plan
- The New York City Employee Individual Retirement Account (NYCE IRA)
The Deferred Compensation Plan has over 130,000 City employees participating and $8 billion in Plan assets, making it the largest local government plan.
The health care and benefits of all New York City employees has always been, and will continue to be, very important to the City of New York.
