August 17, 2011The Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence (OCDV) announced a localized community outreach effort to raise awareness about domestic violence and promote services available to victims – starting with Conely Island, Sheepshead Bay and Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, where domestic violence homicides have occurred this year.  OCDV Commissioner Yolanda B. Jimenez was joined by Inspector Kathleen O’Reilly, Commanding Officer of the New York City Police Department, Domestic Violence Unit, and Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs Commissioner Fatima Shama.

August 12, 2011  - Mayor Bloomberg, DoITT Commissioner Carole Post and Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence (Commissioner Yolanda Jimenez launched the New York City Supported Training and Employment Preparation Services (NYC STEPS) program. In collaboration with the technology company NetApp, NYC Steps provides free workplace and computer skills training to help individuals prepare for entry-level jobs in the technology field. The first NYC STEPS will be New York City Family Justice Center clients.
