The Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence, in cooperation with the Kings County District Attorney's Office, opened a Family Justice Center in downtown Brooklyn on July 20, 2005. This center has exceeded all expectations becoming a national model for large urban family justice center. The New York City Family Justice Center in Brooklyn records an average of 1,500 client visits every month. The City's second Family Justice Center opened in Kew Gardens, Queens in July 2008. This center currently records an average of over 700 client visits every month. Due to the success of our first and second Center the City's third Center opened in the Bronx on April l9, 2010. With this opening, our city has become the first and only municipality in the country with multitude of Family Justice Centers allowing victims of domestic violence to access comprehensive services all under one roof, regardless of their language or immigration status.
