The Plan to Preserve Public Housing

How Will the Plan to Preserve Public Housing Affect NYCHA Residents?

For most residents (73%), the limited rent increase that was announced as part of NYCHA's Plan to Preserve Public Housing has not affected the amount of rent that they pay. However, the segment of NYCHA residents who already pay ceiling or flat rent (27%), may have seen an increase in their rent. The rent schedule and rent calculator below will help you to determine how the limited rent increase could affect your rent. The second phase of the rent increase is being phased in over a two-year period which ends October 31, 2011. The 2009/2010 Flat Rent Schedule is in effect for the first year of the second phase of this rent increase, and until October 31, 2010.
