JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conduct employee disciplinary hearings pursuant to the NYS Civil Service Law §75; make a record of such hearings, including take testimony, review testimonial transcripts and evaluate credibility of witnesses; evaluate documentary evidence; understand and apply relevant laws including the policies and procedures of NYCHA and the laws of the City and State of New York; determine appropriate penalties; write cogent and legally sound Report and Recommendations to the Members of the NYCHA Board; conduct proceedings with appropriate judicial demeanor; research legal issues when necessary. This list does not include all job duties and responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A license to practice law in the State of New York, which must be maintained;
- Three years of recent satisfactory relevant legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar; and
- Knowledge of the rules of evidence and procedure as applied to NYS Civil Service Law §75 hearings.
