The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) provides decent and affordable housing in a safe and secure living environment for low and moderate income residents throughout the five boroughs. It is the largest public housing authority in North America.
NYCHA also administers a citywide Section 8 Leased Housing Program in rental apartments. NYCHA is the largest public housing authority in North America. Internship Responsibilities
May perform the following tasks:
- Work with a diverse array of staff and management to identify change management needs;
- Assist in guiding strategic planning activities that help align the Authority's administration of programs with its mission and priorities;
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, memos, spreadsheets and charts;
- Assist in preparing business cases and plans for new initiatives;
- Research industry trends to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Authority's operations;
- Help create metrics that support staff and management in monitoring performance of projects and programs;
- Gather, analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data;
- Identify photos, write text and partner with internal and external entities to plan events;
- Assist in planning, problem solving, research and general administration;
- Assist in quantitative and qualitative analysis of agency programs;
- Assist in the development of alternative proposals for the achievement of program objectives;
- Assist in the design of policies and procedures;
- Make site visits to review program records and interview staff.
Qualifications/Special Skills/Areas Of Study
Currently enrolled in a graduate Health, Social Service, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business, Communications, Management Science, Information Management, Organizational Behavior, Sociology or Anthropology program or a related field in an acredited college or university.
Candidates should be computer literate, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; have strong analytical and research skills, knowledge of statistical analyses and evaluation methodology; have the ability to write clearly and persuasively, work on multiple projects, initiate work independently and complete specific tasks in a timely fashion; be willing to develop generalist skills while on the job in a wide range of disciplines.
