Garbage Improvements Coincide with New School Construction at East Harlem Development
The construction of the DREAM Charter School along with new units of affordable housing at Washington Houses has created the need for a new site for garbage compactors at the East Harlem complex. After careful analysis, NYCHA determined that the current barbecue area on the south side of E 102nd St. between 230 E 102nd St. and 220 E 102nd St. would be the best location. In order to address any concerns about the determined location, NYCHA officials led a group of Washington Houses residents on a tour of Brooklyn’s Linden Houses, which currently has compactors on site.
