The mission of the Law Department's Media and Communications Office is to provide the public and the media with information about legal matters affecting the City, as well as enhance in-house communications by disseminating important news stories to the Law Department Staff.

The Law Department is highlighted almost daily in major publications like The New York Times, The Daily News, Newsday, and Crain's New York Business. National and international media outlets like The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, and Business Week have cited our work, as well as leading industry publications like The American Lawyer and the New York Law Journal.

The Law Department's exposure is not limited to print. Corporation Counsel Michael Cardozo has appeared on various television news shows, including MSNBC and New York 1 News, affording him the opportunity to discuss paramount issues relating to the Law Department and the City.

The Media Office's ongoing efforts have better defined the Law Department's vital role in shaping the City's future, and have helped to educate the public on the Law Department's practice.
