Located in a tranquil setting on New York City's Roosevelt Island, Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility delivers care in a way that is truly patient-centered: Each patient is assigned to a physician-led interdisciplinary team of clinical professionals, who develop a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan. Coler-Goldwater's team approach to individualized care is both effective and efficient and contributes significantly to achieving the best results for patients. Because physicians are based on-site, they are able to closely monitor their patients and interact readily with team members.

Coler-Goldwater is dedicated to providing quality medical, recuperative, rehabilitative and long-term specialty services. Coler-Goldwater is a national leader in all aspects of providing effective healthcare, and its efforts were recently recognized by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). Coler-Goldwater surpassed 5,300 facilities nationwide to win the Hobart Jackson Cultural Diversity Award  for creating positive change through a strong commitment to culturally competent care and inclusion. Several programs were singled-out by the award, including medical interpreter certification training, Spanish classes for staff and advanced training on culturally-sensitive care.

Coler-Goldwater provides state-of-the-art care with Centers of Excellence in areas including geriatrics, rehabilitation and ventilator dependence. In fact, Coler-Goldwater maintains the highest number of ventilator beds in the United States. Its care for the elderly is responsive to and considerate of their special needs; older patients benefit from the facility's academic relationship with the New York University Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program, which provides staff who are specialists in the field. Its comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program is accredited and certified by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Coler-Goldwater's Medical Services unit speeds the rehabilitation of patients not yet ready for discharge, and who can no longer stay in an acute care facility.
