First New Yorkers of New Year Given "Made in NY" Distinction
January 4, 2005 On January 1, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg paid a visit to the first New Yorkers of the New Year. Noah Santos and Daamiah Hunter were born just after midnight at Elmhurst and Our Lady of Mercy Hospitals. The Mayor presented both babies with “Made in NY” t-shirts and hats.

It's a Wrap for Veteran NYPD Movie/TV Unit Officer
January 1, 2005 NYPD Movie/TV Unit Planning Officer Richie Silverman recently retired after 20 years of service to the City. Silverman, who worked on location at film shoots for ten years and as Planning Officer for eight years, was responsible for assigning the Officers on location to key New York City film shoots.


IFC/Acura Commercial Chooses City
January 1, 2005 It was all fun and games in the streets of Brooklyn this October during a shoot for a spot to promote IFC and Acura. The commercial, in which children ride garbage trucks and go-carts through the street and prepare to throw water balloons on a car, parodies a popular scene from the film The Royal Tenenbaums, which also shot in New York City.


The Gates Are Coming to Central Park
January 1, 2005 This February, internationally-acclaimed artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude will adorn Central Park with 7,500 gates bearing hanging saffron-colored fabric panels for their latest exciting work The Gates, Central Park, New York City, 1979 to 2005.


Apprentices Campaign for New York's Finest
January 1, 2005 The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting recently liaised with NBC’s The Apprentice 2 and the New York Police Department (NYPD) to facilitate an episode in which contestants on the reality television show create promotional campaigns for the Department.
