"Made in NY" Campaign Takes LA
December 1, 2004 Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, traveled to Los Angeles from November 8-11 with representatives of New York City's production industry to unveil the new Made in NY Incentive Program.


Indie Awards in Gotham City
December 1, 2004 This evening, some of the greatest independent film talent from Gotham and around the world will be honored at IFP/ New York's annual Gotham Awards.


Bloomberg's October Surprise
December 1, 2004 Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg delivered an October surprise when he appeared on NBC's The Apprentice on October 21. The Mayor hosted a breakfast at Gracie Mansion as a reward for finalists on the reality show.


National Film Tax Credits Unveiled
November 4, 2004 On October 22, 2004, President George W. Bush signed into law H.R. 4520, the American Jobs Creation Act. The law supplies tax write-offs to film and television productions that have budgets between $1 million - $15 million, and spend at least 75 percent of their compensation for services in the United States. The legislation has a provision which provides write-offs to films with budgets up to $20 million when their aggregate costs are significantly incurred in designated low income communities.


Makeover Has Extreme Impact on Community
November 1, 2004 The impact of production in South Ozone Park has been extreme! ABC's television show Extreme Home Makeover: Home Edition recently rebuilt a home that had become uninhabitable for a Queens family. The production brought in a construction crew to completely renovate and furnish the home of Lucy Ali and her adopted sons.


MOFTB Draws Filmmakers to Work on World Stage
November 1, 2004 New York City is proud to be the host of film and television shoots from around the world. To assist non-U.S. based individuals and production companies who would like to shoot in New York City, the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting recently developed a Guide for International Productions.


The New Bang on Broadway
November 1, 2004 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will soon be heard on Broadway! The musical based on Ian Fleming's novel is scheduled to begin previews at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts in March 2005.


NY Funds for Filmmakers
November 1, 2004 The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) has awarded $742,800 in production awards to New York film and media artists! NYSCA provides State funding to support non-profit arts and cultural organizations in New York State.


Tribeca Casts for Entries
November 1, 2004 The 4th Annual Tribeca Film Festival is currently casting for entries! The early deadline for film entries is November 1, 2004. The final shorts deadline is December 10 and the final feature deadline is December 17.
