December 14, 2005 - The "Made in NY" productions The Producers and The Squid and the Whale have both taken multiple nominations for the 2006 Golden Globes, with The Producers picking up noms in the Best Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (for Nathan Lane), Best Performance by An Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (for Will Ferrell) and Best Original Song in A Motion Picture (for “There’s Nothing Like a Show on Broadway”) categories. Squid is a contender for Best Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (for Laura Linney), and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (for Jeff Daniels).

The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting also salutes productions which did partial work in New York: The Constant Gardener (nominated for Best Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Rachel Weisz and Best Director for Fernando Meirelles), Transamerica (nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for Felicity Huffman and Best Original Song for “Travelin’ Thru”), The Family Stone (nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, for Sarah Jessica Parker), Syriana (nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for George Clooney and Best Original Score for Alexandre Desplat) and Munich (nominated for Best Director for Steven Spielberg and Best Screenplay for Tony Kushner and Eric Roth). The most-nominated Brokeback Mountain also did its post-production here in New York.
