Spider-Man 2 shoots in Union Square
December 1, 2004 - Did you know that the pizzeria where Peter Parker works in Spider-Man 2 is Joe's Pizza at 233 Bleecker Street, and dialing the phone number on the helmet that actor Tobey Maguire wears in the film will actually connect callers to the pizzeria? Or that the scenes of Paris in the final episode of Sex and the City were filmed on Commerce Street in the West Village?
From Spider-Man 2 to Sex and the City, New York City provides sets for some of the most successful shows and screenplays. To document these sites across the five boroughs, the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting has developed Sets in the City, a growing database that lists the locations used in major film and television productions.
“New York City provides filmmakers with the most cinematic locations in the world,” Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, said. “Whether New Yorkers want to identify their neighborhood in the movies or filmmakers are interested in revisiting locations that proved successful in other productions, Sets in the City serves as a fun and valuable resource on the latest 'Made in NY' productions.”
