Scouting Service for City Spaces

December 1, 2004 - Scouting rehearsal or performance spaces in the City? The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting website now links to Exploring the Metropolis, a non-profit organization funded by New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs and New York State's Council on the Arts. The organization offers a comprehensive database of over 1,000 spaces in New York City through the websites NYC Music Places and NYC Dance Places, and will launch NYC Theatre Places next year.

“New York City is the ideal location for entertainment because of the abundance of resources like ours,” Eugenie Cowan, Director of Exploring the Metropolis, said. "With the completion of the NYC Theatre Places website, our program will be a comprehensive resource for performing artists looking for space in New York City. Our websites also offer the film community outstanding nontraditional locations and recording studios. And it's free!"
