December 1, 2004 - The Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera celebrated its 7,000th performance on November 10, becoming one of two Broadway plays in history to reach the milestone. The production has been seen by more than 10 million theatre-goers and grossed over $550 million over the course of its seventeen-year run on the Great White Way.

The show, presented by Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc., is currently the longest running show on Broadway and plans to surpass Cats to become the longest running show in Broadway history in February 2006.

The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting congratulates the cast and crew of Phantom!
