December 1, 2004 - Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, traveled to Los Angeles from November 8-11 with representatives of New York City's production industry to unveil the new Made in NY Incentive Program which provides tax credits, marketing credits and concierge services to film and television productions which shoot on New York soundstages.

Commissioner Oliver was joined by Deputy Commissioner John Battista; Pat Swinney Kaufman, Deputy Commissioner and Director of the New York Governor's Office for Motion Picture and Television Development; Alan Suna, Chairman of Silvercup Studios; Hal Rosenbluth, President of Kaufman Astoria Studios; Jay Fine, President and CEO of Steiner Studios; and Thomas O'Donnell, Jr., President of Local 817. The roadshow marks a first not only in the presentation of New York's new tax credit and "Made in NY" Incentive Program, but also in the formation of a broad coalition of representatives from New York's production industry to promote the incentives and opportunities available to production companies in New York.

Meeting with companies and organizations including Walt Disney Motion Pictures, DreamWorks TV, New Line, FX Networks, Touchstone Television, Warner Bros Features, Twentieth Century Fox, Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, CBS Paramount Television, the Motion Picture Association of America and Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Commissioner Oliver discussed how studios can budget to bring projects to New York City.

“Now more than ever, it is affordable to 'make it in New York',” Commissioner Oliver said. “It is exciting to hear about the numerous projects that are budgeting for New York City thanks to the incentives program, and we look forward to assisting a number of new productions soon.”
