Fur Grows on City Shelters

November 1, 2006FUR heated up City bus shelters in October. The posters promoted Picturehouse's release FUR: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, a film about the famed photographer, which releases in theatres on November 10.

The co-branded advertisements are a part of the "Made in NY" incentive program's marketing credit, which leverages the City's assets to provide free advertising on bus shelters throughout the five boroughs to qualifying productions. Click here for more information.

October bus shelters also promoted the 40th anniversary of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting and the independent feature Kettle of Fish. The agency – which was the first of its kind when founded in 1966 – is celebrating the milestone with the publication of Scenes from the City: Filmmaking in New York, a Rizzoli book edited by James Sanders which looks back on 40 years of filming throughout the five boroughs; cultural events across all five boroughs celebrating the history of film and television production in New York City; an interactive map of locations made famous on film, created by Deutsch; and curriculums which bring the study of film into New York City public schools. Kettle of Fish, the first feature from writer/director Claudia Myers, stars Matthew Modine and Gina Gershon.  Modine plays a lifelong bachelor who confronts his intimacy issues when he sublets his apartment to a fetching biologist.  The film opened October 6th in limited release.
