City Captures CMAs

November 1, 2005 - When the Country Music Awards come to New York City for the first time this month, the Country Music Association will also make some music with the City's production and theatrical communities.

As part of the week-long celebration "Country Takes New York City" from November 9-15, on November 9 the Museum of Television and Radio will host a retrospective of the awards, with long-time CMA awards producer Walter C. Miller, Awards hosts Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, and moderator Lorianne Crook.

Country week continues with "Broadway Meets Country," staged by the League of American Theatres and Producers and the Country Music Association on Saturday, November 12 at Frederick P. Rose Hall, the home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The event, which will raise money for the Actors Fund of America and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help victims of Hurricane Katrina, will feature performances by Idina Menzel, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Bernadette Peters, Patrick Wilson, Trace Adkins, Raul Malo, Lee Ann Womack and Trisha Yearwood. The events lead up to the Country Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from New York City on Tuesday, November 15 at 8:00 pm on the CBS Television Network.
