Nick Cogan wrote, produced, and animated Squid Dragon, winner of MSN's Artistic Achievement Award
October 1, 2006 - Some 22 programs competed in the New York Television Festival’s Independent Pilot Competition during the Festival’s Closing Night Awards Ceremony on September 17 – including 10 that were shot in New York City!
The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting congratulates the animated pilot “Squid Dragon Legend,” which was produced, written, and animated by Nick Cogan of Brooklyn, NY. Not only did “Legend” win its category as the Best Animation Pilot, but it also walked away with Signature Sponsor MSN’s Artistic Achievement Award. As a result, Cogan will receive a development deal with MSN including a $10,000 cash prize to start a new project and a meeting with development executives from MSN Originals. His comedic mock-anime pilot centers on a young, naïve swordsman who is destined to defeat the forces of evil.
“Legend” joins a growing list of New York success stories from the NYTF, which saw three of last year’s New York entries secure development deals or distribution.
