Ali Landry, one of the stars of Bella, at the Toronto Film Festival
October 1, 2006 – The “Made in NY” production Bella took the People’s Choice Award at last month’s Toronto International Film Festival! The film is the feature directing debut for writer-director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde.
Bella shot in parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, and tells the story of Nina, a recently pregnant and unemployed waitress who finds a confidant in Jose, the restaurant’s chef. The film employed 80 cast and crew members, and includes scenes filmed in Brooklyn’s Rockaway Beach, inside a NYC Taxicab, at a Tribeca restaurant, at the “S” Train station at Grand Central Terminal, in Pennsylvania Station and at a Wall Street pharmacy. Interior scenes were shot in Queens’ Kaufman Astoria Studios.
Bella stars Eduardo Verastegui (Chasing Papi ) and Tammy Blanchard (“Life with Judy Garland”). It bears the “Made in NY” logo in the end credits.
Congratulations!
