Regis' Record

Guinness World Records Researcher Stuart Claxton with Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa

October 1, 2004 - The star of Live is a living legend! On August 20, 2004, Regis Philbin broke the Guiness World Record for appearing on U.S. television for the most hours of any person. By the end of Live with Regis and Kelly on that day, he had logged 15,188 hours on air, the prime of which has been shot in New York City.

Live with Regis and Kelly is currently in its sixteenth season of production in New York City. The show is shot live from ABC studios in Manhattan. “I have found over the years that I must be live on TV,” Philbin said. “And New York gives you that luxury at 9 a.m. in the morning. It also gives you the opportunity to be on top of the news and weather of the day. And any time you get bored, just put a camera out in the street and something will happen.”
