October 1, 2004 - An upcoming commercial for the new Corvette C6 centers on a boy dreaming of life in the fast lanes of New York City. The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting coordinated the locations for scenes of the Corvette navigating traffic on the Queensboro Bridge, stunts on the rooftop of a Yankee Stadium Garage and 360 degree spins on Park Avenue this June. The production team utilized the Park Avenue Tunnel and Grand Central Viaduct for shots of the Corvette spinning up ramps and flying through the air.
The production team chose to film the commercial in New York because “it's as much city as you can get in one place,” according to Producer Aris McGarry. “The number and scale of the buildings along Park Avenue, the visuals of the skyline and the icon of the New York Yankees are part of this boy's dream of driving a Corvette through New York City.”
