Commissioner Oliver Presents

September 16, 2004 - A road leading to Pier 62 was newly named, “Law & Order Way” on September 14, in recognition of the contributions the television series has made to New York City. Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, presented a street sign to Law & Order creator Dick Wolf and NBC Universal Television Group President Jeff Zucker to commemorate the event, in a ceremony marking the beginning of the show's fifteenth season of production in New York City.

“Over the past fifteen years, Law & Order has employed thousands of New Yorkers, contributed more than $700 million to New York City's economy, and sparked the series Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Trial By Jury,” Commissioner Katherine Oliver said. “It is a pleasure to pay tribute to a show which has contributed so much to the City.”

Law & Order, television's longest-running primetime drama, is shot at Pier 62 and on location throughout the five boroughs. The show spends an estimated $1 million per week in New York City and employs over 1,800 members of the production industry each season.

Beginning this season, all Law & Order productions will be officially inducted into the Made in NY program and will be using the "Made in NY" logo in their end credits.
