Commercial: Morning in Manhattan

August 1, 2007 - New York City is the rising star in the commercial “Morning in Manhattan” from Visa's latest advertising campaign, “Life Takes Visa.” Designed to introduce the expanded benefits of Visa's “PayWave” service, the Visa commercial moves through panoramic vistas from the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, and the hustle and bustle of rush hour, to sweeping aerial footage of lower Manhattan in the early morning light.

Set to the waltz "Blue Danube" by Johann Strauss, “Morning in Manhattan” follows the rhythms of New York commuters in the classic morning rituals of paying for coffee, doughnuts and taxi rides.

The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting facilitated production of the commercial. The agency coordinated the use of a 60 foot camera lift at Columbus Circle without obstructing sidewalk street traffic, and provided parking assistance to enable a clear shot of the “Doughnut Hub” on 14th Street. In the City that never sleeps, the Visa production team was given parking and shooting permits as early as 5 am to capture that “perfect shot” of a New York morning.

“In taking a series of postcard images of New York,” said location manager Ernie Liberati, “we tried to capture some of the essence of the city. What other city wakes up like New York?”
