August 1, 2006 - Numerous local businesses throughout the City joined the “Made in NY” discount card program in July, pledging to offer discounts of at least ten percent to active New York City productions.
And the new vendors are: Big Film Design, Inc., 1887 Townhouse, 3rd Ward, Anapelli Hair Clinic, Crowne Plaza at the United Nations, Context Studios, Inc., Drake Corporate Housing, Ferra Designs, Inc., Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn, Home Guesthouse, The Otto Kahn and James Burden Mansions and Porky's NYC.
Continuing vendors continue to see increased business as a result of participation in the program. “Business in the City has really picked up over the past year, and participation in this program has given us an extra push,” Toni Cusumano, head of Toni Cusumano Casting said. Her company was signed on to cast the feature film TWA 266 The Movie by DJ. Donnelly Productions Ltd. New York -- a production company which also participates in the discount card program -- and was hired to cast the documentary Sorolla's Letters by a director based in Spain who read about her company on nyc.gov/film.
