July 1, 2007 - The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (MOFTB) is expanding its outreach to the digital media world.
On Monday, June 4, MOFTB held a Digital Media Breakfast at Gracie Mansion, where key representatives of the digital media community were invited to attend a working breakfast. Commissioner Katherine Oliver of MOFTB was joined by Bob Lieber of the Economic Development Corporation and Larry Scott Blackmon of the City’s Small Business Services agency, who shared information about existing incentives that are available to digital media businesses in the City. Shelley Palmer, President of Palmer Advance Media helped to facilitate the discussion.
The breakfast connected a group of approximately 70 industry representatives with government officials to discuss trends and developments in the digital media arena. During the event, representatives shared ideas about how to support this important community, and began discussing ways to identify areas for growth in New York City’s market share of this business.
This was the first gathering of its kind between MOFTB and digital media experts. Commissioner Oliver made a commitment to working with this industry to flush out new ideas and perspectives.
