
July 1, 2006 - In recent weeks numerous new vendors have made a splash onto the “Made in NY” discount card scene, joining more than 500 local businesses which offer discounts of at least ten percent to productions shooting in New York City. The program is connecting local vendors across the boroughs with revenue from the entertainment industry, and lowering the cost of production in New York City.
New vendors include 21 Boom, Inc., Dr. Camen Shuller, City Lights Media Group, Clinton Diner, ECR Antique Conservation and Restoration, Edge 1 Records, EOS Airlines, Gotham Photo Company, IFP (Independent Feature Project), The Lighting Design Group, Motion Picture Enterprises, Inc. (MPE), My Befana Restaurant, Original Butler Historic House on Staten Island, PostWorks, New York, Relax Massage Therapy, See Factory Industry, Inc., SilverScreen Marine, SML Rentals, Splash Studios, T New York City, Team Five, Thought Equity, Travel Advocates, Tri-State Moving Services and World Wide Audio, Inc.
"The program has been great," Ken Brown, president of Sarah Brown Caterers, which recently joined the program, said. "I've seen an immediate response in new business and its really giving us exposure to a new and growing market."
