May 18, 2007 - Far too many people interested in the entertainment industry think the only way to enter the field is to: 1) be an actress/actor, 2) write a screenplay or novel, and/or 3) know someone to get a break. These three have been known to work but there are other ways to get in the door and stay.
If you are a teacher or represent a community based organization working with high school juniors or seniors, and you are interested in providing your students with more information about the film and broadcast industries, this is your big break. There are many "below the line" (behind the scenes) opportunities that offer fulfilling careers for New York City high school graduates.
Some of the industry's most notable companies, and their most talented and sought after "behind the scenes" professionals are participating in The Film Career Networking Day to share their experiences, offer insight, and explore opportunities with you and your students.
Space is limited to the first 150 students who are registered by their teacher or community based organization representative. We want to make sure you have time to meet and speak with the many different professionals waiting to meet you. All participants must be registered by May 29, 2007. Each student will have a name tag and a personalized bag with a resource manual and gifts to take home.
Best of all, you and your students will leave with a clue, a foot in the door, and possibly the business cards of those whom you impressed.
The event takes place on Monday, June 4 from 2 to 4pm at Grand Central Station-Vanderbilt Hall. For more information and to register, click here.
