May 1, 2007 - To celebrate the sixth annual Tribeca Film Festival, NYC-TV’s “Secrets of New York” series is spilling the beans on the neighborhood of Tribeca.

On Tuesday, May 15, the Emmy Award winning series “Secrets of New York” will air its “Secrets of New York: Tribeca: Mysteries of New York’s Backlot Revealed” on the City-owned station NYC-TV. The episode first premiered on April 28 on WNBC Channel 4.

The show’s focus is on how TriBeCa, (Triangle below Canal Street) has evolved and re-defined itself many times throughout the centuries and the way its iconic buildings and cobblestone streets now serve as backdrops for some of Hollywood's biggest features.

NYC-TV also premiered two back-to-back episodes of “Secrets of New York” on Tuesday, April 10th.

“Secrets of New York – Facelift: The Changing Landscape of New York City” led the double feature, followed by “Secrets of New York – Pioneering Moments in New York City History.”

Pioneering Moments, airing again on Tuesday, May 1, follows the history of everyday things that are taken for granted today that were either invented, first put into use or made famous in New York City, while Facelift, airing again on Tuesday, May 8, looks at how throughout the ages, the physical environment of New York City has undergone multiple facelifts.

These two episodes were followed by the premiere of the “50th Annual New York Emmy Awards,” where NYC-TV won seven awards and was nominated for 34 awards. NYC-TV airs on Time Warner channel 25 and Cablevision channel 22. All three programs will be streamed live on www.nyc.gov/tv
