May 1, 2005 - The 8th annual Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), formerly known as the Williamsburg Brooklyn Film Festival (WBFF), will take place this year from June 3-12. This year, the festival will show 180 films from among 1,734 submissions from 80 countries. It will feature screenings and events at the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Historical Society and Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
Last year, the festival drew over 10,000 attendees. This year, the BFF will launch its first-ever kidsfilmfest on June 5 at the Brooklyn Museum. The event will feature film screenings, plays and an outdoor carnival for children of all ages.
"kidsfilmfest is about redefining what children's entertainment can be," said Lisa King, the newly appointed director of the project. "So many wonderful films are made for children, yet rarely seen. kidsfilmfest aims to bring the best of these films to young audiences right here in Brooklyn."
