April 1, 2006 – The film Red Doors, which received the “Made in NY” award presented by the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, has gone on to become a CBS pilot script and to secure distribution by Polychrome Pictures in association with Warner Bros. Home Video. The film, based upon the experiences of a Chinese-American family living in New York City, opens in theatres this summer.
“Red Doors is a Chinese-American family comedy that was written, shot, and edited in New York,” writer/director/producer Georgia Lee said. “In fact the city itself - with its diverse neighborhoods and colorful locations - is as much a character in the film as each member of the Wong family. I can’t imagine a more appropriate place to have premiered Red Doors than at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. We are grateful to the Tribeca Film Festival and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting for recognizing Red Doors with the ‘Made in NY’ award and for ardently supporting diverse, new, independent voices in cinema.”
