 Brooklyn Bygone at BAM

April 1, 2006 – This month, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) will present “It Happened in Brooklyn,” a series in conjunction with Brooklyn historian John Manbeck, author of The Brooklyn Film, that looks at a bygone Brooklyn, now preserved in the movies.

The series will feature screenings of It Happened in Flatbush (1942), on April 10, with an introduction by author John Manbeck and Prof. Joe Dorinson, Chair of the History Department at Long Island University. On Monday, April 17 BAM will screen It Happened in Brooklyn (1947) with an introduction by authors John Manbeck & Robert Singer, and on Monday, April 24, The French Connection (1971), with a Q&A with authors John Manbeck & Pete Hamill. All screenings will take place at 4:30, 6:50 and 9:15 pm. For more information on BAM, click here.
