March 2, 2005 – New York City is proud to salute its Academy Award winners!

At the 77th Annual Academy Awards on February 27, Spider-Man 2 was honored with an Oscar for visual effects and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind won for writing (original screenplay).

The Honorary Award of the evening was presented to Sidney Lumet, one of New York City’s most talented, loyal and prolific directors. His NYC credits include Gloria, Night Falls on Manhattan, A Stranger Among Us, Q & A, Family Business, Running on Empty, Power, Daniel, The Verdict, Prince of the City, Just Tell Me What You Want, The Wiz, Network, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, Child’s Play, The Anderson Play, Bye Bye Braverman, The Group, The Pawnbroker, Long Day’s Journey into Night, Vu du Pont, The Fugitive Kind and One Third of a Nation.
