March 1, 2006 – On February 2, Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, presented a Mayoral proclamation declaring "The View Day" in the City of New York, in celebration of the program’s 2,000th show.
In recognition of the milestone, Commissioner Oliver also joined with the hosts of The View to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange. On behalf of Mayor Bloomberg, Commissioner Oliver announced, "Over the course of 2,000 shows, countless Americans have made The View an essential part of their day. New York City is proud to have contributed to the program’s energy, star power and authenticity. I congratulate Barbara Walters, her distinguished on-air colleagues, and the many talented individuals working behind the scenes on reaching this important milestone."
