January 16, 2007 - “Made in NY” Productions were ‘Golden’ at the 64th annual Golden Globe awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced winners of the prestigious award last night, and three of the “Made in NY” nominees came out on top. Meryl Streep won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy Globe for her devilish turn as fashion editrix Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. The honor was Streep’s eye-popping 21st nomination and sixth Globe win.
Legendary director Martin Scorsese also won in the Best Director – Motion Picture category for his critically acclaimed film, The Departed. The award was Scorsese’s second win and eighth nomination.
In addition to Streep and Scorsese, the third “Made in NY” winner’s resume is equally lengthy. After four nominations, Alec Baldwin won his first Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. The veteran actor plays hard-nosed GE executive Jack Donaghy on NBC’s “30 Rock”.
The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting offers the highest praise for these “Made in NY” Golden Globe winners. Congratulations!
