February 1, 2007 - On February 8, more than 19,000 film professionals from 120 countries, including 3,800 journalists, will head to Berlin, Germany for the Berlinale, or Berlin Film Festival. Close to 350 films are shown at the festival, including the “Made in NY” film, The Good Shepherd, for its international premiere.
Shepherd is Robert DeNiro’s second directorial turn, and tells the story of Edward Wilson, an idealistic Yale graduate during World War II who is recruited by the OSS - The Office of Strategic Services and precursor to the CIA. The film features an all-star cast with Matt Damon as Wilson, Angelina Jolie as his wife, Clover, and Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, Michael Gambon, William Hurt, John Tuturro and Joe Pesci rounding out the ensemble. The Good Shepherd shot in Rockaway Beach in Queens, Clinton Hill in Brooklyn, and the Gould Library at Bronx Community College, and provided 1,663 local jobs.
