December 14, 2006 – As the capital of independent filmmaking in the United States, it is no surprise that numerous films shot in New York City have been officially selected for the Sundance film festival. The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting will be rooting for the City’s nominees:
On the Road with Judas, starring Aaron Ruell, which focuses on a New York businessman who is also secretly a computer thief.
Adrift in Manhattan, starring Dominic Chianese and Heather Graham, in which strangers cross paths on the New York City subway.
Broken English, in which Parker Posey stars as a single woman facing issues with her relationships, job and mother.
Joshua, starring Vera Farmiga, a psychological thriller which rips apart a young New York City family.
Never Forever, starring Vera Farmiga, in which an American woman has a dangerous affair with an immigrant worker.
One Rat Short, a short film in which a rat fights for survival on the New York City subway.
Padre Nuestro, starring Armando Hernández, which focuses on a criminal illegally transporting immigrants into the United States.
Starting Out in the Evening, starring Lauren Ambrose, in which a graduate student forms an unlikely relationship with the subject of her thesis.
Congratulations!
