January 1, 2005 - NYPD Movie/TV Unit Planning Officer Richie Silverman recently retired after 20 years of service to the City. Silverman, who worked on location at film shoots for ten years and as Planning Officer for eight years, was responsible for assigning the Officers on location to key New York City film shoots.

After 18 years with the Movie/TV Unit, Silverman said, “So many people come from all over the world to shoot here, that the industry speaks for itself. Producers choose to come to New York because, in spite of the challenges, the City manages to make it work every time.”

Currently taking Silverman’s position is Marc Abrams, an officer with eleven years of experience in the Police Department and four years of experience in the Movie/Television Unit.

“I couldn’t think of a better job than working on location with New York’s incredible movie and television crews, and I look forward to assisting even more productions as they film throughout the greatest city in the world,” Abrams said.

All productions that require NYPD assistance should contact Abrams as early as possible at 212-489-6710 x219.
