ATTN: BROTHERS AND SISTER

Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City / UFA / UFOA / CSU

Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC, the UFA, the UFOA, and the CSU are looking for you to Build a valuable relationship with a child in need.

If you are at least 21 years of age and an FDNY employee, family member, or retiree, you could be the perfect mentor for a child who lost a firefighter or EMS parent in the line of duty.

We are looking for volunteers to provide one-on-one support to a child of one of our "families." Mentors are required to spend 8 hours per month with the child they are matched with for at least one year.

For more information on screening and training and to get involved please contact Kim Ahearn or Bob Kelly in the Counseling Service Unit at (212) 570-1693 or email Kim at ahearnk@fdny.nyc.gov.

This is a great opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a child.

The Counseling Service Unit of the FDNY continues to recruit FDNY members, their adult family members, and retirees who are interested in mentoring a child of FDNY personnel lost in the line of duty as part of the FDNY Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.

There is a particular need for mentors in Orange County, Westchester County, and Nassau and Suffolk Counties. This is a unique opportunity for FDNY members to connect with this group of families and to make a positive impact in the lives of these children. Mentors must be 21 years of age and are required to commit 8 hours per month, for one year, to the child.

For information about how to get involved, please call Kim Ahearn in the CSU at 212-570-1693 x 323 or email Kim at ahearnk@fdny.nyc.gov.
