FDNY INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM WELCOMES CONGRESSMAN PETER KING AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT ANNUAL MEETING
The New York City Fire Department Incident Management Team will hold its annual meeting on Monday March 30 at Randall’s Island. The meeting will feature a keynote speech by Congressman Peter King, followed by a Q&A session, and a speech by Charles Hamilton, NYS Wildfire and Incident Management Academy Coordinator. In addition, the team will recap their operations over the past year, including deployment to Baton Rogue in September for Hurricane Gustav.
Incident Management Teams (IMTs) are assigned to manage large-scale, complex incidents, including hurricanes and other natural disasters, as well as other national emergencies. The FDNY`s Incident Management Team members are experts in logistics, operations, information, safety, and planning. The FDNY IMT has responded to many large scale incidents including the California wildfires in 2007 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when 600 firefighters were deployed to oversee and manage fire and emergency response operations in the city of New Orleans.
Representative Peter King, a long time supporter of firefighters and first responders, was recently selected to chair the Congressional Fire Services Caucus throughout the 111th Congress. Rep. King is also the ranking member of the House Committee on Homeland Security.
