The Cornerstone Program provides engaging activities year-round for adults and
young people. Programs are located at 25 New York City
Housing Authority (NYCHA) Community Centers throughout the five
boroughs. DYCD is working with community-based organizations
to provide high-quality programming.
Cornerstone youth programs are designed to help participants acquire the
skills and attitudes they need to graduate from high school, succeed in their
chosen career, and give back to the community. Typical youth
activities include:
- Literacy activities
- Tutoring
- Homework help
- Project-based learning opportunities
- High school and college prep
- Math clubs
- Photography
- Basketball
- Chess
- Martial arts
Cornerstone adult programs are designed to enhance skills and promote social
interaction, community engagement, and physical activity.
Typical adult activities include:
- General Education Diploma (GED)
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Parenting Skills
- Family Relations
- Tenant Education and Advocacy
- Intergenerational programming
