Traffic Advisory

The New York City Department of Transportation announced today the following detour for the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan:

The Hudson River Greenway is also temporarily closed in this area.

Motorists are also encouraged to use the FDR/Harlem River Drive to Dyckman Street. In addition, motorists traveling to Westchester and further north are encouraged to take the Trans-Manhattan Expressway to the northbound Major Deegan.

Where possible, drivers should use the Madison Avenue, Willis Avenue, and Triborough Bridges to connect with the Major Deegan or the Bruckner Expressways. DOT has postponed all work on the Harlem River Bridges to accommodate traffic being diverted from the Henry Hudson Parkway.

While access to the George Washington Bridge via the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway is available, motorists traveling to New Jersey are encouraged to use the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels. Motorists traveling inbound from New Jersey over the George Washington Bridge, headed for the northbound Henry Hudson Bridge should exit at 178th Street or Riverside Drive south and follow the detour signs back to the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway.

There are a number of special events in Manhattan this weekend. Sunday May, 15 is the 20th Annual Aids Walk. With an estimated 40,000 participants, the following street closures will be in effect from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm - 110th street between Central Park West and Riverside Drive; Riverside Drive from 110th to 74th Street; 74th from Riverside Drive to Central Park West; Central Park West to 72nd Street. Streets will be reopened on a rolling basis shortly after the tail end of the parade passes.
