This traffic alert details the locations of road construction and other events that will affect the flow of traffic this weekend. This information is subject to change. Check the Weekly Traffic Advisory Check for special traffic advisories

Other state and local agencies are responsible for street construction work in New York City. The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed for longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8 am and breakdown must be completed by 7 pm.

As part of its citywide traffic improvement program, the New York City Department of Transportation has compiled a list of areas where Street construction or Street events will impede the normal flow of traffic this weekend.

Manhattan

East 70th Street between 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue

This street will be closed 8 am to 6 pm Saturday and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

East 82nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 7 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Festivals, Parades and Events

NYC Cannabis Parade

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 12:30 pm to 1 pm for the NYC Cannabis Parade as permitted by NYPD.

Formation:
  • Broadway between 32nd Street and 31st Street (East Curb Lane)
Route:
  • Broadway between 32nd Street and 24th Street (East Curb Lane only)
  • Broadway between 24th Street and 17th Street (West Curb Lane only)
  • 17th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue
  • Park Avenue between 17th Street and 14th Street
Dispersal:
  • Into Union Square Park

Middle Collegiate Church 2nd Avenue Festival

The following street will be closed Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm for the Middle Collegiate Church 2nd Avenue Festival as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • 2nd Avenue between 6th Street and 14th Street

Brooklyn

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (eastbound/westbound) between Atlantic Avenue and Sands Street

One of three lanes will be closed in either direction from 12:01 am to 6 am Saturday and from 12:01 am to 9 am Sunday.  Two of three lanes will be closed in either direction from 1 am to 5 am Saturday and from 2 am to 7 am Sunday.  At least one lane will remain open to traffic at all times.  These closures are necessary through May 28, 2016 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridge inspection.

DOT Weekend Walks Design Walk

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 3 pm to 8 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Design Walk as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • Atlantic Avenue between Hoyt Street and Bond Street
  • Bond Street between State Street and Pacific Street
  • Hoyt Street between State and Pacific Street

DOT Weekend Walks Be on Belmont

The following street will be closed Saturday from 1 pm to 6 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Be on Belmont as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • Belmont Avenue between Rockaway Avenue and Watkins Street

Bronx

Festivals, Parades and Events

38th Annual Run the Bronx

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm Noon for the 38th Annual Run the Bronx as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Formation:
  • Hall of Fame Terrace between Sedgewick Avenue and University Avenue
Route:
  • Aqueduct Avenue between 181st Street and 184th Street
  • 181st Street between University Avenue and Aqueduct Avenue
  • 184th Street between Aqueduct Avenue and Grand Concourse
  • Grand Concourse between 179th Street and Van Cortland Park Avenue East

DOT Weekend Walks Throgs Neck

The following street will be closed Saturday from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Throgs Neck as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • Hollywood Avenue between Randall and Schley Avenue

Queens

59th Street between Dead End and Roosevelt Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6 am to 8 pm to facilitate crane operation.

60th Street between Dead End and Roosevelt Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6 am to 8 pm to facilitate crane operation.

62nd Street between 39th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6 am to 8 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Manhattan/Brooklyn

Brooklyn Bridge

One of three lanes eastbound (Brooklyn-bound) will be closed Saturday from 2 am to 2 pm, and two of three lanes eastbound (Brooklyn-bound) will be closed Saturday from 3 am to 7 am.  One of three lanes westbound (Manhattan-bound) will be closed Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and two of three lanes westbound (Manhattan-bound) will be closed Saturday from 2 am to 6 am.  These closures are necessary to facilitate long-term bridge construction activity.

Queensboro Bridge

The North Outer Roadway westbound (Manhattan-bound) pedestrian and bicycle lanes may be fully closed from 10 pm to 5 am Friday night to Saturday morning, and 10 pm Saturday night to 5 am Sunday morning to facilitate utility work.  Shuttle bus service will be provided to assist pedestrians and bicyclists across the bridge.

Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings

Bayonne Bridge

One of two lanes in each direction is open to traffic for PANY/NJ long term navigational clearance project. No oversized or overweight vehicles are permitted.   Overnight Bridge closures started January 8th, 2014 and continue through the duration of this long term project.  The closures are:  Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am and Friday midnight to 11:59 pm Saturday.  No weekend closures on Sunday and holiday weekends.  During closures, motorists should use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate.
