The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed for longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8 am and breakdown must be completed by 7 pm.

As part of its citywide traffic improvement program, the New York City Department of Transportation has compiled a list of areas where Street construction or Street events will impede the normal flow of traffic this weekend.

Manhattan

East 21st Street between Gramercy Park East and 3rd Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 21st Street between Gramercy Park West and Lexington Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 21st Street between Lexington Avenue and Gramercy Park East

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 21st Street between Park Avenue South and Gramercy Park West

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 31st Street between 10th Avenue and Lincoln Tunnel approach

This street will be closed 4 am Saturday through 6 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

East 36th Street between 1st Avenue and FDR Drive

This street will be closed 12:01 am Saturday through 10 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

West 44th Street between 10th Avenue and 9th Avenue

This street will be closed 4 am to 2 pm Saturday and Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

West 53rd Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday form 6 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 54th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 58th Street between 6th Avenue and Grand Army Plaza

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 73rd Street between 1st Avenue and York Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Gramercy Park East between East 20th Street and East 21st Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Gramercy Park West between East 20th Street and East 21st Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Lexington Avenue between East 21st Street and East 22nd Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Lexington Avenue between East 22nd Street and East 23rd Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Hester Street between Mott Street and Elizabeth Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Worth Street between Church Street and Broadway

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate utility work.

Norfolk Street between Broome Street and Delancey Street

This street will be closed from 6 am Saturday to 9 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

Thomas Street between Church Street and West Broadway

This street will be closed Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Jane Street between West Street and Washington Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Northbound Route 9A/West Street between West 21st Street and West 25th Street

Two out of three northbound lanes will be closed from 10 pm Friday to 10 pm Saturday to facilitate pavement restoration work by NYSDOT.

Northbound Route 9A/West Street between West 25th Street and West 42nd Street

Two out of four northbound lanes will be closed from 10 pm Friday to 5 am Monday to facilitate pavement restoration work by NYSDOT.

FDR Drive (southbound) from 68th Street and 63rd Street

One of three lanes southbound will be closed from 11 pm to 5:30 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 6:30 am Saturday and from 1 am to 11 am Sunday to facilitate long term building construction.

FDR Drive at East 81st Street

One of three lanes in either direction (northbound or southbound) may be closed from 11 pm to 5:30 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 6:30 am Saturday and 1 am to 11 am Sunday. Two of three lanes northbound may be closed from 1 am to 5 am Tuesday to Friday, 2 am to 6 am Saturday and 2 am to 7 am Sunday to facilitate long term NYCDOT pedestrian bridge reconstruction.

Trans-Manhattan Expressway (TME) Connector Ramp from George Washington Bridge to Harlem River Drive

One of two lanes in either direction (northbound or southbound) will be intermittently closed from 12:01 am to 10 am Saturday through September 2016 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges repairs.

Little Italy Pedestrian Mall

The following streets will be closed starting Friday through September 11, 2016 from 6 pm to 9 pm for the Little Italy Pedestrian Mall as permitted by the Mayor’s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • Mulberry Street between Canal Street and Broome Street
  • Hester Street between Mott Street and Baxter Street

Manhattan/Brooklyn

Brooklyn Bridge

One of three lanes eastbound (Brooklyn-bound) will be closed Saturday from 2 am to 2 pm, and two of three lanes eastbound (Brooklyn-bound) will be closed Saturday from 3 am to 7 am. One of three lanes westbound (Manhattan-bound) will be closed Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and two of three lanes westbound (Manhattan-bound) will be closed Saturday from 2 am to 6 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate long-term bridge construction activity.

Williamsburg Bridge

The South Outer Roadway (Brooklyn-bound) will be fully closed from 11 pm Friday to 10 am Saturday to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges milling and paving operations. Commercial truck traffic will be detoured to the Manhattan Bridge.

Manhattan/Queens

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

One lane at a time will be closed on the on the westbound (Manhattan-bound) Lower Roadway from 12:01 am to 5 am Saturdays until August 27, 2016 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridge roadway repairs.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway between Tillary Street and Sands Street

One lane in each direction (eastbound and westbound) will be closed Saturdays from 12:01 am to 5 am, and Sundays from 12:01 am to 6 am, and two lanes in each direction will be closed Saturdays from 1 am to 5 am, and Sundays from 1 am to 6 am until mid-September 2016 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges roadway repairs and maintenance.

Rockwell Place between Lafayette Street and Fulton Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

DOT Weekend Walks Back to School Play

The following street will be closed Saturday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Back to School Play as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Van Wyck Expressway between Northern Boulevard and Long Island Expressway

Two of three lanes in either direction (northbound or southbound) will be closed from 1 am to 6 am Saturday and 1 am to 9 am Sunday through August 2016 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges work related to the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge rehabilitation.

The following street will be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 4 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Boogie on the Boulevard as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • Grand Concourse between East 162nd Street and East 167th Street

Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings

Bayonne Bridge

One of two lanes in each direction is open to traffic for PANY/NJ long term navigational clearance project. No oversized or overweight vehicles are permitted. Overnight Bridge closures started January 8th, 2014 and continue through the duration of the project. The closures are: Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am and Friday midnight to 11:59 pm Saturday. No weekend closures on Sunday and holiday weekends. Weekday full closures are from 9 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday. During closures, motorists should use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate.
