The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed for longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8 am and breakdown must be completed by 7 pm.

As part of its citywide traffic improvement program, the New York City Department of Transportation has compiled a list of areas where Street construction or Street events will impede the normal flow of traffic this weekend.

May First Worker Immigrant's Rights Rally

The following streets will be closed Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm for the May First Worker Immigrant's Rights Rally as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • 2nd Avenue between 14th Street and Houston Street (southbound bus lane only)

Manhattan/Brooklyn

Brooklyn Bridge

Due to the Brooklyn Bridge Ramps Rehabilitation Project, several lane closures may affect motorists travelling between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Local streets may experience single lane closures as needed and Manhattan-bound lane closures continue overnight throughout the duration of the project. Any other closures, including Manhattan-bound closures that extend into daytime hours during selected weekends, will be highlighted below. Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained throughout the project as will the span's pedestrian and cycling path. During Manhattan-bound closures, motorists will be detoured to the nearby Manhattan Bridge or may choose other crossings.

Unless otherwise notified of specific occurrences, nighttime closures are as follows:

Overnight Detours for Manhattan-Bound Traffic
Friday night/Saturday morning Midnight* to 7 am
Monday - Thursday nights: 11 pm* to 6 am

* To allow traffic to clear before the reversal begins, the eastbound BQE exit onto the bridge closes 30 minutes earlier, the northbound FDR Drive exits close up to an hour earlier, and other Brooklyn ramps onto the bridge shut down 5-15 minutes earlier. As of March 26th, 2015 and lasting through December 2015 the Brooklyn Bridge promenade will be reduced in width for pedestrians and cyclists at various locations. At the towers, the work zone will be in effect continuously during this period. On the Brooklyn approach work will be conducted only during overnight hours. Pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to cautiously share the narrowed pathway.

Hugh L. Carey Tunnel

One tube will be closed nightly Monday to Friday between 9:30 pm and 5:30 am to facilitate tunnel repairs through 2018. Weekend-long single tube closures will begin Friday night from 9:30p;m and continue through 5:30 am Monday morning. In addition one tube will be closed for routine maintenance work Sunday night beginning at 11 pm through 5:30 am Monday. During these times there will be one lane in each direction in the remaining tube.

Brooklyn

47th Street between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Hoyt Street between Livingston Street and Fulton Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Remsen Street between Hicks Street and Henry Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Powers Street between Olive Street and Catherine Street

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Gowanus Canal CDC Street Festival

The following street will be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the Gowanus Canal CDC Street Festival as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Brooklyn/Queens

Grand Street Bridge over Newtown Creek

This bridge will be fully closed Saturday from 7 am to 1 pm to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs. Motorists should follow the detour to the Metropolitan Avenue Bridge during this time.

Bronx

Bronx Community College Hall of Fame 10k Run

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm Noon for the Bronx Community College Hall of Fame 10k Run as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

73rd Avenue between 193rd Street and 194th Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm to facilitate crane operation.

73rd Avenue between 194th Street and 195th Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm to facilitate crane operation.

194th Street between 75th Avenue and 73rd Avenue

will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm to facilitate crane operation.

39th Avenue between 138th Street and Union Street

This street will be closed 6 am Saturday to 9 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings

Bayonne Bridge

One of two lanes in each direction is open to traffic for PANY/NJ long term navigational clearance project. No oversized or overweight vehicles are permitted. Overnight Bridge closures started January 8th, 2014 and continue through the duration of this long term project. The closures are: Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am and Friday midnight to 11:59 pm Saturday. No weekend closures on Sunday and holiday weekends. During closures, motorists should use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate.
