Medical Provider Information

Below you'll find documents for medical providers, including information on administering the smallpox vaccine.

*Note: This brochure lists as a contraindication inflammatory eye diseases, which is not included in current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations. Patients with inflammatory eye diseases may be more likely to rub their eyes and thereby incur a greater risk of ocular self-inoculation following smallpox vaccination. Vaccinia keratitis is a serious condition that may lead to blindness. Because of this risk, physicians should use caution when evaluating patients and consider postponing smallpox vaccination until any inflammatory eye disease has resolved. Logical Images has copyrighted this brochure but has granted unrestricted use of these materials to healthcare professionals for educational, training and clinical use. Commercial reproduction of the guide is not permitted. Images rendered from a PDF file, however, will not approach the clarity and quality of those in the printed reference guide. Accordingly, you are highly encouraged to obtain and distribute printed copies of the reference guide from the appropriate source (either CDC or Logical Images, Inc.).
