The New NYC Construction Codes now applies to all new development in New York City.

What are the New NYC Construction Codes?
The NYC Construction Codes are comprised of four volumes: the Building Code; the Plumbing Code; the Mechanical Code; and the Fuel Gas Code.

Design professionals may use the 1968 Building Code or the NYC Construction Codes, depending upon the filing or permit date of a construction project and most alterations.

Which Codes apply to my project?
The NYC Construction Codes are now mandatory for new construction projects beginning after July 1, 2009. Certain exceptions apply.

Where can I find a copy of the NYC Construction Codes?
New York City's CityStore sells the NYC Construction Codes. Purchase them online or at CityStore, in the Municipal Building at One Centre Street, North Plaza, in Manhattan. CityStore is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:30pm.

The NYC Construction Codes are continuously updated with newly-enacted local laws. Please update your purchased Codes by printing the Update Pages from our website. Note: Purchased Construction Codes will not be complete without inserting the Update Pages.

Where can I find the 1968 Building Code?
Please visit the Reference Materials section of our website to access 1968 Building Code, Selected Local Laws, the Electrical Code, Rules and Reference Standards and all subsequent Local Laws that affect the NYC Construction Codes.
