Instructions for Verifying the License Status of a Contractor

To verify that a contractor has a current license, or to verify that a contractor is currently insured, you may want to print the following instructions before you access the the Buildings Information System (BIS).

Steps

  1. Access BIS by clicking the button below:

  1. After reviewing the information and accessing BIS, select option "B" or Skilled Trades Licensee Search as per the image below.

  1. Input either the Licensee Last Name, Business Name or License Number and select the License type.

  1. Review the information provided by the Building Information System:

The table below reflects all of the possible status types for the list of 18 tradespersons regulated by the Licensing Unit.
