Active Studies & Proposals:
Residential Streetscape Preservation Text Amendment

Residential Streetscape Preservation Text Amendment
The proposal will preserve and enhance the streetscape character of residential neighborhoods throughout the City. The text amendment will strengthen front yard planting regulations, create stricter rules for front yard parking in one and two family residence districts, introduce new curb cut regulations in residential districts where they are currently lacking, and clarify the intent of many other regulations relating to parking and curb cuts in residential districts.

Fresh Food Store Areas

FRESH Food Stores
The Food Retail Expansion to Support Health, or FRESH, program will facilitate the development of stores selling a full range of food products with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and other perishable goods. The proposed action will provide zoning incentives for neighborhood grocery stores to locate in some of the most underserved neighborhoods in the City with primarily pedestrian-oriented, local shopping districts.

Going to Market
Going to Market: New York City’s Neighborhood Grocery Store and Supermarket Shortage
A Citywide assessment of supermarket access at the neighborhood level. A Supermarket Access Index was created to evaluate key health and economic development factors that are interrelated to residents' local access to supermarkets.
Green Initiatives
Green Initiatives
Ensuring that the city has adquate green spaces is critical to creating a livable, sustainable city with a healthy environment and an improved quality of life.
